Who do you know in Lisbon?

    Sample passports. Tap a friend.

Wordof keeps the places your friends would send you to, in every city they’ve been. Start with your own photos, see who knows a city, and ask them before you go.

Two thousand reviews, and we still text a friend.

When a dinner actually matters, we don’t read strangers. We ask someone whose taste we know. Wordof is that question, with the answers kept.

    Getting started

Start with what you already have.

Your camera roll already knows where you’ve been. Wordof turns it into a passport of cities and places, and you decide what goes in.

    In the app

Before the trip, on the street, and after.

Wordof’s Rome page: your dates and hotel, friends who know Rome with their photos, and the places they recommend.

    Planning a trip

Open a city and see who has been, what they recommend, and your dates and hotel in one place. Ask the friend who knows it best.

What do you need? Filters for when, who’s coming, budget and how far, then the best bets from friends.

    Out and about

Say what you need: a drink now, dinner for two, nothing over €€. Your friends’ places come first, sorted by how close they are to you or your hotel.

Asking Lucas about Rome: suggested questions and a box for your own.

    Asking and sharing

Ask one friend a real question and get their places back, not a paragraph. Send it in Wordof or on WhatsApp, and answer theirs the same way.

    Your information

    Made for people you know.

A review is an average of strangers. A word from a friend comes with everything you know about them. So Wordof stays between friends, and you decide what they see.

    Photos
Only the date and location of each photo are read, on your phone. The photos are never uploaded.
    Location
Used while the app is open, to show what’s close. Stamp suggestions are off unless you switch them on, and your location history never leaves your phone.
    Contacts
Scrambled on your phone before we look for friends on Wordof. Never stored, never messaged.
    What friends see
Places you stamp, and the cities and dates of your trips. Friends of friends see stamps only, and you can turn that off.
    What stays yours
Places you keep private, places you want to go, your saved places, planned trips and hotel.
    No ads
No ads and no paid spots. Your data is never sold.

    Questions

Do I need friends on Wordof to start?

No. Scan your photos or stamp a few places, and you have a passport to share. Your friends’ places appear as they join, and friends of their friends after your first one does.

    Is it free?

    Yes.

    Is it on iPhone?

Wordof works on the web today at app.wordofapp.com. The iPhone app is in beta through TestFlight. The photo scan and finding friends from your contacts need the iPhone app. Android comes later.

What’s the difference between stamping and keeping private?

A stamp means you’d send a friend there, and your circle sees it. Keeping a place private means you went, but it stays only in your passport.

    Who can see my places?

Only people in your circle see the places you stamp. Nothing on Wordof is public. More in the privacy policy.
