Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 October 2026

Wordof is a friends-only app for sharing places you love. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Short version: your stamps are seen only by people in your circle, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.

What we collect

Account: your email address (or phone number) and password, stored securely by our login provider and never readable by us.

Your passport: your name, home city and, if you add one, a profile photo.

What you add: places you stamp or save, your notes and "good for" tags, the months you visited, trips you plan, where you are staying, asks you send and answers you give.

Activity inside Wordof: for example, when you open, save or get directions to a friend’s tip, so we can tell your friend their tip was used.

The waitlist on this website: if you apply, we keep your email address and where you came from (for example, a friend’s link), only to invite you to Wordof.

Photos and location

Photo scan (optional): Wordof reads only the date and location attached to your photos, on your phone, to find cities you have visited. The photos themselves are never uploaded or seen by us. Approximate locations (rounded) are sent to our server only to look up which city and places they match.

Your location (optional): while the app is open, Wordof can use your location to show which places are close to you. It is used only to look up nearby places and is not stored or shown to anyone.

You can turn photo and location access off at any time in your iPhone Settings.

Who can see what

People in your circle see your name, photo, home city, the places you stamp as recommended, and your trips (city and dates).

Places you mark "Private" or "Want to go", your saved places, planned trips and where you are staying are visible only to you.

Asks and answers are visible only to the two people involved.

People who are not in your circle cannot see your passport. Someone you send an invite link to (and anyone they pass it to) sees your first name, photo, how many stamps, cities and countries you have, and the names of up to four of your top cities.

Services we use

Supabase stores your account and data. Google Places provides place details, photos and maps; place searches and nearby lookups are sent to Google. Resend sends our emails (sign-in links and waitlist invites). Vercel hosts our websites. These providers process data only to run Wordof.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites. This website uses no cookies and no analytics trackers.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings, then Delete my account. This permanently deletes your passport, stamps, trips, saved places, asks, photo and circle.

To leave the waitlist, or to ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion, email support@wordofapp.com.

Safety

You can report people, stamps and asks, and block anyone. Reports go to the Wordof team, who review them within 24 hours.

Wordof is not meant for children under 13.
